The immense Gothic Symphony had remained unperformed for over 30 years until the Queensland Youth Orchestra, under the baton of John Curro, and Queensland’s leading choirs, under the direction of Alison Rogers, delivered two sold-out performances of the Mount Everest of classical music. The vocal score is incredibly demanding, equally as demanding as the orchestral score, however the sound level achievable by the 180 voice choir could not compete with the 150 strong orchestra. Technology and clever design was required to enhance the choir whilst still remaining true to the acoustic nature of the original work. Auditoria was engaged by 4MBS, the Producers of The Gothic, to design audio systems for choir enhancement and monitoring. Our design included over 70 microphones, two mixing consoles and a specially designed loudspeaker system in addition to using the existing house choir stall loudspeakers. |
