The International Olympic Committee awarded Singapore the right to host the inaugural Youth Olympic Summer Games in 2010. The Opening and Closing Ceremonies team was structured in a similar model to that used by Singapore to delivery their annual National Day Parade. The team utilised the wealth of talent within Singapore as well as a small contingent of internationals. Auditoria's Scott Willsallen was engaged as the audio designer, for the Ceremonies which were held at the Floating Platform in Marina Bay. The Opening Ceremony was extremely well received by the IOC, the people of Singapore and the television audience. Following the success of the Opening Ceremony each member of the creative team was presented with a Youth Olympic Games trophy by the IOC President Jacques Rogge. In his address to the team the IOC President described the Opening Ceremony as "Technical Perfection". The Closing Ceremony was equally well received in its informal and youthful style, concluding with a dance party on the main stage for the 3000 athletes. |
