Banks Events and Out There Productions have engaged Auditoria since 2009 as the Audio Director for the Australia Day Spectacular held annually in Darling Harbour.
The 2009 production design consisted of a single centrally located barge with three video screens and a single point source loudspeaker system for coverage of the entire 360 degree foreshore.
In 2010, moving away from the traditional site layout, there was a main stage with secondary performance platforms above each of the video screens. A additional barge with a live feed and audio system was positioned in front of the Harbourside area. The loudspeaker system consisted of a combination of large format clusters mounted adjacent to the video screens and a large quantity of smaller loudspeakers distributed along the foreshore. The coverage area for the event stretched from the South Steyne floating restaurant to Home night club.
The 2010 layout was duplicated in 2011 with the inclusion of a symphony orchestra for the finale, written by Nigel Westlake; the Australia Day Suite. The Suite featured a solo vocalist and guitarist on a yacht moving slowly through the bay and a twelve voice choir scattered among the three technology barges. All solo performers and the orchestra conductor used in-ear monitors for timing and cueing.
