Scott was contracted by Norwest Productions, a Sydney based Audio Production Supplier, to write a proposal in response to a design and construct proposal request they had received from the event producers Jack Morton Public Events. Scott’s proposal was selected and Norwest Productions were awarded the contract to supply design and production services and equipment for the Ceremonies.

Norwest retained Scott as the designer for the ceremonies, his responsibilities included the following:

• Loudspeaker system design, implementation and commissioning.
• Control system design, implementation and commissioning.
• Monitor system design, implementation and commissioning.
• Cabling infrastructure design and implementation.
• The artistic direction of the audio program material both in the stadium and for broadcast.
• Technical crew selection for key roles.

Most of the design work was done on plans which were only indicative of the final structure. This meant that Scott’s loudspeaker system design had to be flexible to allow for errors in the plans.
